Carl Blahuta began as a Splashway Waterpark & Campground lifeguard 21 years ago and now serves as owner and operator of the same park alongside his wife, Laura, and father-in-law, Hank Novak. Together, they have 3 boys under 7 who keep them on their toes and are the inspiration to Blahuta’s endless desire to improve the Splashway property. What began as a small municipal park has grown to more than 100 acres of camping with a world class waterpark featuring iconic rides by ProSlide including the latest, “Dueling Splash Blasters,” a WWA and IAAPA Best Ride winner in 2019. He’s not stopping there as the park opened 4 new and exciting rides in summer 2022. The park prides itself on the motto “We are Family” and has been ranked as one of Texas’ top outdoor destinations. His personal mantra is “There’s always a better way.” Over the last few years, the park has been in the process of creating a look and feel unlike anywhere in the coastal plains of Texas. This unique vibe with lush landscaping and blended architecture is a world where the palms meet the oaks, the hills meet the waves and George Strait meets Jimmy Buffet.
