Salem Bunkheila has been the Director of Operations for the Hattiesburg Convention Commission since 2015. In this role, he contributes to the management of public assembly facilities and attractions, including a convention center, performing arts center, multiple museums, a zoo, and most recently, a waterpark. The Hattiesburg Convention Commission has recently experienced record growth across its properties, including the development and successful launch of its new waterpark Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo. With a background in business development consulting, Salem has expanded markets and operations for various businesses across several industry sectors. He focuses on managing complex projects and bridging communication between technical teams and management to ensure smooth execution and growth. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on International Business from the University of Southern Mississippi and is actively involved in professional associations such as IAVM, IAAPA, WWA, AZA, AAM, and APAP. Salem also volunteers with the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp, supporting programs for individuals with special needs.
