Shelby Duncan

Shelby Duncan has worked over 20 years in aquatics. She started as a lifeguard in 2003 with the City of Olathe, a suburb of Kansas City. She quickly became a pool manager, lifeguard trainer, swim supervisor, aquatic specialist then director. She was the Assistant Manager for Black Bob Bay in 2010 when it was renovated and opened as Olathe’s first water park. Duncan over saw the opening of Olathe’s indoor water park attached to their community center. In 2019, she oversaw the opening of Olathe’s only Beach and Marina which features an inflatable aqua park. In January 2024, Shelby moved to Blue Valley Recreation Commission and runs the year-round aquatics program working to rebuild the facility features, operations, programs and staff.
